Evelyn’s Ceramic & Gift Shop opened almost 20 years ago; it was a big step for her but has been a most rewarding career for her and her fellow artists.
The shop is unique for featuring greenware, bisque and firing facilities, it also carries a full-line of cleaning tools, electrical hook-ups, decals and various accessories to be used with and on your finished pieces. A full-line of paints, brushes and other supplies for the convenience of the artists can also be found here.
A large mold selection offers ideas and pieces from the ordinary to the unique and to fit the most discriminating tastes. She also has a connection with a neighboring ceramic shop that offers a source of molds and greenware not found in this shop. Your selections can be tailor finished for you to match any décor and a large variety of finished pieces are always on hand to aid you in your gift needs.
Her speciality is a technique called dry brushing. Various other techniques are also used in her shop and techniques change from time to time, instructions are available.
Evelyn has participated in Ceramic shows in the Richmond, Virginia and has won several 1st Place and Best in Show Awards. She has shown her work on a local level in schools, country clubs and with other groups as the occasion arose. She has the ability of free hand drawing and uses this talent often.
Evelyn has a knack for flower arrangements. Evelyn says, “Just tell me what occasion and you will be delighted with the finished product.”
Among her accomplishments are hand painted wooden butterfly houses, which realistically portray butterflies, birds, flowers, and trailing vines with maybe, a lady bug or two. These are a beautiful addition to any lawn or flower garden. Beginning artist are instructed and supervised at no charge as they work on their own pieces here in the shop.
Evelyn’s Ceramic Gift Shop is conveniently located just 1 1⁄4 miles off Route 122 North, at 2622 Forbes Mill Rd, Bedford, VA 24523, telephone (540) 586-8387. The shop is open 10a.m till 3p.m Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and in the evenings from 7p.m. till 9p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. There are “regular customers” who come to work during opening hours and Walk-Ins and Beginners are always welcome.
